My name is Mandeep Tung. I am a Canadian-certified counsellor and a Registered nurse with experience in forensic psychiatry at Alberta Hospital. I have worked in mental health for seven years and with gifted individuals for six years. I hold a master's degree in counselling psychology from Yorkville University and am currently pursuing a doctorate in clinical psychology
I have experience working with multicultural clients and am passionate about helping them navigate their challenges and work toward healing. I am fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, and I have a good understanding of Urdu.
I offer therapy services to older adolescents and adults of all ages. I offer individual, couples, and group therapy.
I believe in collaborating with clients and empowering individuals to develop inner strength to face life’s challenges while cultivating healthy coping skills. I assist adults who are grappling with relationships, substance use, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma ADHD, and autism.
Additionally, I support couples addressing relationship issues through an emotion-focused approach. I help individuals explore their thoughts and behaviours with the assistance of cognitive behavioural therapy. I also work with a solution-focused approach with individuals struggling with substance use.
Solution-focused brief therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented approach in which the client collaborates with the therapist to establish achievable targets within a limited timeframe to improve their current situation. This type of therapy emphasizes following steps that ultimately lead to problem resolution and also focuses on enhancing individuals' capacity to prevent similar issues in the future. Solution-focused therapy has demonstrated effectiveness with individuals who are struggling with substance use as well as relational difficulties.
Cognitive behavioural therapy addresses the individual's presenting issues and aids in developing strategies to alter thought patterns and beliefs through thought monitoring. Those experiencing eating disorders, anxiety, and substance use are ideal candidates for this therapy.
Emotion-focused therapy addresses emotions and attachment patterns, making it an ideal choice for couples and individuals facing challenges in their relationships. It guides clients toward developing emotional awareness.
